I have the lee custom 2 cavity from midsouth (not the one with the huge metplate)

and the last 8mm 6 cavity group buy

What do you guys do to get them to shoot good, seating length powder charge etc.

I have the following powders

Surplus imr 4895
surplus imr 5010
IMR 4064
RE 15
Varget

I have been using 5010 in the 30 cal with excellent results, but no luck so far with the 8mm mauser

Try 48gr. IMR 5010 + 0.3cc (Lee Dipper) poly- filler or powdered bran filler +LR Mag. primer with either of the CB's you mentioned.

..............I will have to assume you've not had much luck yet? Gotta do the basics first. Have you slugged the barrel? Does any boolit design you have engrave? And if it does engrave, is it too long to feed from the mag?:-)

Have you had it out of the stock? Bedding and stuff okay? Have you tried any jacketed stuff in it? Is it leading?

Or, you've done all that and you're just looking for loads for those powders? [smilie=l:

If so they're all on the slow side, but to be honest one of my best 8mm shooters is a M88/14/35 Turked Commission rifle:

And it dotes on 57.0grs of TCCI 5020 ball and a heavy 240gr slug I did a custom buy on. That's a full caseload and it sends the slug off at 1950 fps and burns very clean. That 5020 a bit slower then WC860 if you can grasp THAT!:bigsmyl2: It's so accurate that I've loaded several batches of 50 rounds to use in our weekly offhand match. It's a bit much really, but if the sights are right when I sqeeze my eyes shut and yank the trigger I can do well.

However for most of my 8x57 shooting I use loads like 18.0 2400, 20.0 SR4759, 20.0 H4227, or 23.0 H4198. All these use a Dacron wad and are used under the Lee C323-175, Ly 323470, and 323471. Oh, under the Lee 175gr boolit 12.0grs of Unique does a good job too.

I'm at work so don't have access to my notebooks but I'm sure I'd used surplus 4895 ( a bit slower then canister).

Neat rifle Buckshot, Thanks for the advice guys. Most of my 8mm rifle engrave well even with the nose of the bullets I mentioned. I size mine to .325 I have a mint barrel on my yugoslav 98k which is the one I try for accuracy on. i get about 8" groups @100yds with the 198 gr yugo surplus????.

I am building another scoped 8mm mauser with a mint barrel that will hopefully do better.
