A measure of how much a boolit is from the imagionary dotted line that is the center line of the brass case and the boolit. Ergo, are they in line with each other? Short and sweet.....

vacek, Bullet runout = out of roundness [of a cast bullet]. One form is the result you get from casting with an out-of-round mold. A second type results from sizing a too large CB, especially a bore riding/2 diameter design, with an improperly fitted nose punch: In doing so, you actually bend the CB. Lastly, you can get runout from improper bullet seating; e.g., by not properly expanding case necks via a Lyman or RCBS "M" die or Lee Universal Expander (or needle nose pliers). Once again, the long bore riding bullets are prone to this. You can measure this with various tools and actually see it in extreme cases by rolling loaded rounds over a flat surface.

Maven hit it on the head. Felix was close, but his description is more accurate for cartridge concentricity.

vacek,

Runout is when you didn't cast enough bullets for the next trip to the range! :kidding:

Seriously, are you asking about the bullet by itself or about the entire loaded round?
