I recently detail cleaned my RCBS 44-250-K mold which included a complete disassembly. I lost the small piece that protects the spruce plate bolt threads from the set screw that holds it in place. What can I use to replace it?

Call RCBS they are great and have sent me parts 100% free even covered shipping.
They may not be the best but are in my opinion one of the best in customer service

A small pice of lead, if you cast you should have some of that around.
Not meant to offend but spruce is a type of wood. A sprue is excess lead on top of the sprue plate.

I prefer to use a short piece of brass, such as a piece of brazing rod. I use a short pin from a lock tumbler as I re-key locks in my business and have them available. They are available in lengths from short wafers to longer than 1/4 in.

The beaded chain that use to be used to attach bath tub stoppers to the faucet is sold in many Ace Hardware stores and is cheap as dirt. Comes in various diameters. It's brass plated by something and is handy to have around the bench. Just snip off one as needed and if you drop that one and it rolls under the bench, snip another one./beagle

I use a piece of 10 or 12 ga copper wire. Doesn't melt, doesn't rust. Works OK so far.

Great idea, some of those pins are real short, I will have to stop by the local locksmith and get some.
