As a new subsciber and a new loading enthusiast I am interested in any help for loading my two Taurus 24/7 Pro's I have 225gr LRN and would like to hear some feed back as to what powder and powder loads may work best in these guns.

I have the 24/7 OSS.

I use 5.0 gr RedDot.

Welcome to the forum, sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I generally use either Bullseye, Unique or WW 231 for most of my 45ACP loads. If you are loading for target shooting or plinking I would use Bullseye and start at 4.0 grs and work up in .3 gr increments till you get the most accurate load, according to Lyman the do not exceed load is 5.0 grs, but work up slowly and watch for excessive pressure and quit if you see it. I strongly recommend that you get a good load manual.

No problem Cowboy.

My first load for the Taurus was 4.5 gr of RedDot but it wouldn't cycle reliably. I bumped her up a bit and problems went away.

I'm shootin a 200 gr FN boolit that I bought from Missouri Bullet Company. They are a good bunch to trade with.

Bought them boolits before I started casting for myself. I still send my friends to MBC though...

I favor Clays. About a 4.3 gr loading of a Lee 200 gr SWC boolits gives me joy. For a 225 gr boolit I mite cut it back to 3.7 or so and see where you are at on a Chronograph. Anything faster than 750 FPS should be OK. Anything beyond 900 FPS and you are wasting powder and beating up your gun and yourself.

I do however make some rounds that I use at the end of a target session. These are 230 GR LRN boolits that I use to replicate Factory Self Defense loads that I carry. These babies do recoil and go faster but again only up to 950 FPS and the POI is similiar to the Federal Hydro Shok JHP's that are normally carried.

They are not really fun to shoot as the recoil is noticed really fast but I need to make sure that I am able to group these and not be surprised when I make my next trip to the local 711.

I just bought a can of Clays. You can't call it a pound 'cause they don't give you a pound !

Anyways - I'm lookin' forward to loading up some. I've heard an aweful lot of good stuff about it. 4.3gr is about what I was looking at. Good to know someone else that is using it.

Has anyone used Tightgroup? What was the outcome?
