32-180-FN Group Buy Place Orders Here!

This is a refined design of a 32 win boolit for use in both the 8mm and 32 win. A great deal of consideration has been given to fit for both cartridges and THANKS to 45 2.1 for his input regarding design changes and the drawing as well.

I will honcho this here rodeo, starting now. Cost is $59 for the mould, shipping & insurance, plus I'm going to collect $1 from everybody to use toward getting a mould for 45 2.1 at no cost to him. Whatever we're short for that I'll make up. I think he deserves one for all the work he did on this project by helping me to get it going again. So bottom line is $59 to you per six-cavity custom Lee mould, no handles.

There are a lot of group buys going on just now, so I think we can run this one for 60 days from today. Then wait two weeks for stragglers, and close the order. When the checks are to me I'll send off the order to Lee.

I will ship to you kids overseas; just send a couple dollars more, all US funds please.

Anyone that sends cash does so at his or her own risk. I'm honest, but is your postman? USPS MO are the best way to pay. This way no one has your checking account numbers, address etc. As I say, I am honest, but it is a personal practice of mine to not send checks by mail to anyone.

As I receive money, I'll post your zip/postal code with number of moulds ordered. I doubt we'll have trouble getting to 25 moulds ordered.

Be aware that I do have a job, family ,garden and other obligations. Occasionally I have to work some unusual hours, so a reply to your PM may have some strange time stamp on it, but you will get a reply.

When the moulds arrive; I'll open one and cast some boolits. If all is well (in my opinion) I'll post a thread and ship in bunches over the course of several days. If you have any issues with your mould you'll have to take it up with Lee, as per usual.

PM me for my address. Put “8mm group buy” in the subject line. Include your screen name, actual name & address, and number of moulds you will be ordering so I can get an information database set up.

Whats the possibility of running a dual buy for 6 holers and two holers as well ?

I'd like a two holer , but have no desire for the 6 holers .

SharpsShooter
05-20-2006, 03:10 PM
I think think the 6 cylinder moulds are far higher quality than the 2 cavity. Look at it like this a 6 banger is 3 times a 2 and they really make good boolits. But to answer your question.......I'm not interested in running a two holer buy.

6pt-sika
05-20-2006, 04:21 PM
Doesn't hurt to ask :-D

My reason against the 6 holers is a quality (of the bullets) thing. And I don't really like working with the 6 holers.

Considering we are just a bit over 3 days into this endeavour, I believe we will make the 25 minimum with not too much difficulty. :-D

Tom,

If you are using internet explorer to view the drawing, hover your cursor around the lower right corner and when a small box appears, click it to resize the drawing to show all dimensions.

To answer your question......yes it is a gas check design.

The crimp groove to nose dimension for the 32-40 is .370. The same dimension for this design is .472. If you attempted to use it in the 32-40 and crimp in the groove, your overall length would be .102 above the max and feeding from the magazine would be impossible. Single shot usage is of course possible but likely not desirable.

Thanks Sheperd2, I'll keep an eye out for it. We are close to the halfway point of the duration of this buy and just 2 short of making the minimum for Lee's setup requirement. There are always stragglers in this sort of thing, so I expect we will meet the minimum and likely a few above.

Howdy and Welcome!

There shouldn't be any problem sizing to .322 or .323. That's one of the reasons I'm in this particular GB thing, as I want to be able to load this same boolit for both 8mm and .32 Winchester Special.:-D

I'd like to see a final of the drawing too, if possible. Send to my e/m if it's easier.

George,

Welcome to the asylum! Yes it is a 32 caliber gas check design and the last 1000 that Ibought were around $20. I am ordering only a specific number of moulds. There won't be any extra's on this buy. I have the final drawing here on the desk in paper form, but not in a digital means of transfer. It is possible that Lee would utilize it for propduction at some point in the future, but I could not speak to when.. The buy will be closed on the 19th and I'll be waiting 7 days beyond that to let the final checks arrive and then the order will go to Lee by the end of the month or first week of August at the very latest.

We have finally made it to the end of this buy. I currently hold payment for 29 moulds and expect the other two any time for a total of 31. I am going to allow to the end of the month for stragglers in keeping with the content of the original post. If you are considering it or putting it off to see if we get the magic 25 orders needed to get Lee to waive the setup fee, you cannot wait any longer. Any checks in the mailbox after Monday the 31st will be returned. I plan to l cash all checks and money orders Tuesday August the 1st and mail the order to Lee the same day.

Sooooooo..................

Here is a list of the zips that I have checks or money orders from as of a quick visit to the post office this morning.

Almost forgot to add; several have sent a bit more than needed and I have decided to donate whatever remains after shipping to Castboolits from all who participated in this buy and let Willy use the excess to help keep this forum going. I think that is proper to do as we would not have this opportunity without the benefit of this forum.

This sure was a long running buy.

Did everyone finally get their money back from Greyarea?

Pat,

Yes, it took a while to set things right. It has always been my experience that fixing something takes longer than breaking it. The participants of this but have been remarkably patient. In fact, when it began to look like the magic number of 25 moulds might not be met, one member stepped up and offered to buy another even though he didn't need two of them. That is above and beyond the call if you ask me. Most everyone reported getting their money back and were willing to drop it at that point and move along. We may have lost a buyer or two in the first go around, but this bunch of folks were willing to see it through to ther end. Now it is up to Lee :groner: to get it done right.
