Haven't cast my chamber yet. I seated some cruise missile bullets tonight and left them barely seated to see how far it was to the rifling. I never hit.
Just how far is it to the rifling on the Carcano?

I have had a similar experience with my M41 Carcano. I seat them about half way down the neck and call it a day.

Of course this nixes using the magazine as they won't feed, but you can rest the cartridge on top of the follower (no clip) and hold it 'tight' as you close the bolt so that the rim slides under the extractor properly.

............I looked in my previous load data and none of the pages mentioned that the boolits engraved? If they do I would enter that the nose engraved, and how much, but then I also normally enter 'Doesn't engrave'. The bore and groove of mine is .256" x .268" without a throat dimension. Considering they were shooting a 160gr RN I'd suspect the throat and leade would be ah, prodiguous :-).
