I`m casting 50/50 water quinched bullets for my Marlin 336 - 35Rem. I`m wanting to run these at 1800fps max. will I need to GC these ?

Would say YES unless you want a leaded bore. Of course if you cleaned after each shot you could get by.

A gascheck will make getting accuracy with no leading at that velocity much easier for you.

In my experience 1,800 or so fps seems to be the point that you may or may not need a gas check.

Smaller cases with lighter boolits and smaller powder charges seem to be easier to obtain this velocity without a GC.

I shoot a 336 too I have killed 4 deer with a 200gr lead gc w/36 gr of IMR3031 most just under 125yds I have also used IMR4198 29.5 gr with 158gr when I hunt power lines it will reach out 150-200yrds
Don
