On behalf of my hunting partner's wife, I'm shopping for a .454 mold for his Super Redhawk. I'm thinking a plain base for plinking and moderate hunting loads would be ideal. I would appreciate some input from you casull shooters. Thanks!

I use the Lee 252gr swc for plinking and the Lee 300gr wfn with or without the check depending on how warm I make em'

For light loads/plinking, any boolit that shoots well in .45 Colt works. I like the Keith 260 gr. SWC, 454190 Lyman sized .452", and Lee 255 SWC. If velocity is held to 1200 fps. or less, they do fine.

For serious hunting/full power loads, the Lee 320 gr. FNGC or Lyman 452651 wearing gas checks.
