:killingpc I would like to be able to find a U.S. company that will make a mould for my 303Brit No5mk1 which happens to have a larger bore than my no1mk3. I've e-mailed CBE in Australia to get the details on ordering one from them and I've decided to try finding a non bore-rider style boolit mould here in the US. Can anyone direct me to a good source? (hopefully not too expensive either)[smilie=f:

Not unusual.
Mine took .314.
You can either lap with lapping compound with the casting a machine screw nut as a sprue, or you can paper patch.
I got MISERABLE accuracy with my Enfield untill I paper patched. Outshoots jacketeds.
If not, go the next caliber up staying with 180gns. Size it down.

NEI #85A if I recall. I think it will cast up to .317 it has been a while since I had teh mould cut. (Walt cut it.) Hope this helps.

Actually, there's a couple of oversized .303 bullets on the small group buy area, you just have to pm or email Swede, there may be 4 other guys just waiting for you to indicate your interest. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=65575

I think I'll try one of the Mountain mould designs in .316- 215 grain. I currently use a Lee push through sizer in .314 to install checks. I can open up the sizer die if I have to. What is the largest meplat I can go with and still get reliable feeding in my no5mk1? What bullet style is the best for hunting and accuracy? Which gas check shank is the best (the smaller size?) How many driving bands are ideal? Before I spend the $95 bucks or so, I wanna learn more. Thanks!

Not only will you have to oversize the mold, but, you will have to get the dies modified.
When I paper patched mine, the dies would work with original sizes. At .314, they made a mess.
.314 should work though.

Where abouts in Oregon are you located?

I bought the .318" NEI mold years ago to use in my #4Mk2, and it's exactly what the doctor ordered. I also machined a 450 sizer die that squeezes them down to a fat .316"

try NEI HANDTOOLS,they have some oversize 30 cal bullets.
Please note that the SMLE rifles feed best with pointed bullets

I had the same problem with a number one mark three , that thing had a .318" groove and wouldn't shoot anything worth a hoot . I sent a Slug to LBT and asked for a twohundred fifteen grain bullet that would work and it sure does work well . I even tried sizing the same bullet down a couple thousanths so it'd fit in a P-14 I had once .

You will like the heavy untill you start pushing it to a couple grand .

I hear you about the pointed boolits. I'm going to check out LBT. I already push a 200 grainer in my other Enfield(Santa Fe copy)at 2000fps and I find that to be very mild when compared to my 338winmag. I actually like recoil as long as it doesn't hurt. I had to put a Decelerator on the 338. and now I actually enjoy the recoil. I like the feeling of all that power. Thanks for the replies. I'm happy knowing I didn't waste the $100 on my no5mk1.:coffeecom
