Just got one today. I gave 200 bucks and a Marlin bolt .22. I think I did good. It needed a little TLC and some of the screws were buggered up, but over all I am pleased. The forend had an unsightly gap, but I slid it off and a couple minutes with the Spyderco and it fits perfect now! Took out the bolt and lever handle & gave it a few wipes with some Qtips and it is good to go. Had a fixed 4 Bushnell which will go on my 10/22. I have some H110 GCSWC loads sitting around and ran a few through it and they picked up out of the mag and fed just fine. I will shoot them maybe tomorrow and see how they do. It is a pre-safety Micro-Groove BTW.

Here are some before and after pics. I know the allen head screws holding the fore end cap on are not correct. Took off the sling swivel, and dressed up some of the buggered screws. Also noticed a chip in the wrist area. You can see where the fore end gap shrunk in the after pic. http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/Evansguns/102_2290.jpghttp://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm243/Evansguns/102_2291.jpg

They hold bullets very good. I have another one in the sink right now waiting to be cleaned out.

That's a very nice looking rifle and I'm betting it'll shoot just fine. Where did you find it?

I also use tubs like that to hold bullets and cases. My bench is littered with them! :)

GON site. Maybe run it in the Lever gun match?

GON site. Maybe run it in the Lever gun match?

It would be perfect for our Lever Action match. We shoot at 100 and 150 meters plus revolvers at 40 meters. 10 shots at each distance. Rifles from buffalo stakes and revolvers off-hand. Cost? $6.00

Your rifle with the right cast boolit loads would be very competitive. Calibers being used now include .44 Mag, 35 Remington, 348 Win., 38-55 & 45-70. Some have tried 30-30 but the steel pigs at 150 meters don't go down reliably with cast loads. The 100 meter targets are steel plates about 8 inches square.

Our steel targets for the revolvers are pretty heavy and require a fairly stiff cast .357 Mag load or heavier caliber to knock down. I use a 50 Year of 44 Mag Blackhawk Flat Top myself..... 240 grain cast boolit & 7.5 grains of 4756 in 44 Special cases.

It really is a fun match and we'd be pleased to have you.

EMC that rifle looks great! Congats on your new aquisition.
I'm looking for a couple 1894's for the wife and I to scope up.
Thanks for the pics. Now I know what they look like with a scope. Cool Cool!
What objective size is the scope if I may ask?

It is a fixed 4 power. Not sure of the objective size though. Pretty sure it's not a 40MM.

Nice looking rifle! Looks like the scope is a 33mm lens size. I just put a Weaver 1x-3x on my Winchester 94 TE, and will probably be shooting it today. It is a very light scope, and looks good on the lever with the 20mm objective, and short overall length. I also like the low power variable shotgun scopes on these guns.

The fixed 4 is heading to my 10/22 shortly.

I have a Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag that was made in 1977 and it is one of my favorites. I think you did very well on that deal.

Listen to this!!! I was in the parking lot waiting to meet the guy for this Marlin 44 and my local pawnshop called me to tell me they had a Marlin 44 like mine, but in SS and with the hang tag still on it! I told them as many times as I looked and never found one the day I go to buy one they have one in the rack!!! Too funny! They wanted 499.99. Still not too bad. It was nice too. I still went by and looked at it though. They also had a 444 Marlin too.

I know where your coming from mag44uk , in october I paid $1185 Australian for my blued model - these Americans have got it made , cheap rifles and they can own companion revolvers for them .

So far I have not been able to bring myself to scope my .44 mag Marlin [ another $600 for a Leupold VX2 and mounts ] but I did fit a Williams foolproof sight that I'm pretty happy with .

Nice addition, I'd say you did pretty well on that deal. I have a stainless .44 and it is probably my favorite gun. I have several molds for it but mine seems to prefer the Lyman Devastators to anything else, very accurate out to 100 yards. Hey what are you going to do with that scope base? I might be able to put that to use on a project rifle if you want to sell it..

What loads? Show targets. I want to see how well the 1/38 twist shoots at 100 yds.
