I am still frustrated with my new Ragging Bull, got the sights nice and tight but it is still all over the target.
My 45 colt loads of 11.2 gr AA#5 and 255 cast bullets, sized .452 go all over and lead badly.
I need a good load for this thing that will work, I am trying to get some boolits that are sized .454 but no luck yet. How about some good loads that have worked well for you! Just got some .454 brass today so will see if that makes a difference. But would like to be able to use 45 colt brass since I want to carry it when using my 45 colt rifles. Any suggestions again would be appreciated.

I could be wrong but if I were you I would try a bigger diameter bullet. I size my boolits to .454 for my Casull. Especially since you have leading and no accuracy.

I should have added my current load is 23 gr. 4227 and a 254 gr. boolit sized to .454. Still working on it but this load does good to 50 yards. That's as far as I have shot my .454 so far. This is a very mild load.

Yup, my barrel mikes (slugs) .454 too. Shoots Horny XTPs like they were guided (I'd guess 4" @ 100yds). I use the RCBS 300 rnfpgc sized down to .455". Haven't got the load figured out yet, about 2" @ 25 yds..

My Raging Bull is one of the early models in high polish S.S.

I found early on that any portion of boolit diameter protruding into the cylinder throats had to be .452" or less, or the round would not chamber. The bore slugs .452". Mine is a good shooter, 3" groups at 50 yards when I do my part.

As with all my .454's, the best reduced power powder has been Bluedot.

Did you slug the barrel, and did you check the size of the bore at the end of the cylinder? Taurus is famous for out of tolerance guns. I have slugged a 45 ACP barrel that was .456 (.004-.005 oversize). I have seen a ragging bull 454 with .4536 barrel and .453 cylinder chamber end bores.

When you want to check for accuracy with a revolver, you need to fire all rounds from the same cylinder, because you don't know if every cylinder bore lines up the same with the barrel. Just mark 1 chamber with a black marker or white-out, then shoot 5 or 10 rounds from only that chamber to check the accuracy. You will need to start from 2 empty holes away from the round so the cylinder rotates into position naturally: Don't just close the cylinder on the loaded round. You can fire 5 rounds from each cylinder and compare the (5,6,or 7 targets depending on the cylinder capacity) targets to each other to see if all cylinders are shooting the same. Nice trick!
