Can someone help me with a formula for changing an alloy. Say you wanted to change one or more elements from one quantity to another.

I figured it by percentages, like the alloys are listed.
Break down the percentage of metal by weight and calculate the proportions accordingly.
Rough, but close as you can get without exact knowledge of the actual content.
I hope this makes sense to all.
If I am wrong, someone please correct me.
Sb 6% Sn 18% Pb 76%
Sb 0.6 lb Sn 1.8 lb Pb 7.6 lb =10 lb Lino Type
Sb 0%, Sn 0%, Pb 100%
Sb 0 lb Sn 0 lb Pb 5 lb =5 lb Pure Lead
Sb 4%, Sn 12%, Pb 84%
Sb 0.6 lb Sn 1.8 lb Pb 12.6 lb = Yield 15 lb
This approximates the 4/11/85 alloy that RCBS is supposed to use for Pistol Bullet weight calculations.

There are more that are more elaborate. This one is as simple as can be .
Type in the grey areas only.
I hope the link is still god. If not email me and I will send you a copy.
lwknight@mesh.net.nospam
remove the .nospam
if the file transfer login appears, just cancel it and the spreadsheet will ope anyway. you can save a copy to disk.

KB,
Here's a recent thread (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=67040&highlight=alloy)that has links to several alloy calculators.
