Lets hear your best load using a cast boolit and AA2200 powder.

222, 219 Donaldson, 6.5, 7mm TCU, 6.5x257, 308, 3006, 8mm for a start.

How about other cartridges also so that all known information can be shared?

I'm a little interested in this ,too as I still have most of an 8 pound keg of it on the shelf I've had for years. I never found anything it was really outstanding for, I used it in 7.62x39,as that is what it was designed for

.30/06 Number 1 Ruger

311041HP 173.0 gr A2200 24.0 gr 1698 FPS 6.5 SD sized .309"

Gave me 1" accuracy at 100 yards. That old Number 1 has never been picky though./beagle

Beagle: Interesting! I have 8lb. of 2200 but have been reluctant to use it because several of the regular posters here warned me about using reduced loads of ball powder. At the time I was loading 22 grs. AA2230, 311413 in my 03A3 which was the most accurate load I have ever used. I chronoed this load and got 150 ES. I was told this could lead to an SSE. I would like to hear your comments.

I just went back and looked at my notes and there was no reference to a dacron wad. I was unsure about that and wanted to check before I replied. I shot a lot of that load and we also went through many jugs of AA2200 in our .38/55s and .40/65s and had no troubles. As well as I recall we ordered 12 8 pounders when it first came out.

I do remember that it left blackened cases which is indicative of incomplete ignition but it shot well for us.

My supply is all used up now so I'm unable to experiement with it any longer.

If you don't feel comfortable with it, don't use it. Those were my experiences.

Sure wish we could get another big run of that milsurp stuff./beagle

Like most ball powders 2200 likes to be ran at higher pressures to burn well. Once you find the spot it cleans up and performs wonderful. I say humbug to the SEE with this fast rifle powder. I run a case full in a NEF hornet and it shoots very very well!
