newbie here, but was a member back in the "shooterstalk" era. I'm active in the ASSRA schuetzen bunch and just aquired a very nice original Percussion schuetzen marked "R.Grimm--chicago" I've just ordered the hamilton/rowe book on these arms. but I'm hoping someone here can give me further information/links/sources.
its a 45 cal more-or-less Swiss style rifle rather than the more ornate stylized Germanic rifles. it has a 30" barrel just a tad over 1" across the flats. bore is 452/452 and it has a fast twist--1/22 or so. I figure its built for conicals rather than patched round balls.
ASSRA is constitutionally restricted to breechloading single shots. back in the mid 40s when ASSRA was founded NMLRA seems to have had at least some PB/ML schuetzen and the ASSRA was a cartridge schuetzen split from the Friendship crowd. because of their orientation I'm not finding a lot of ML?percussion schuetzen info from my good friends there. wondering if there is another org. that might be into playing with this sub-sub-fraction of the BP/ML community.
{edit: just looked at the NMLRA website---nothing there unless you want to join or buy tee shirts thought maybe they'd have some forums}
I'm trying to find out more about my rifle and others of similar ilk.
I put a WTB in the classified section i hopes of finding one of the discontinued Lee 45 cal "modern-Minie' " molds to use in this beauty. Also interested in any other suggestions or knowledge that might be shared.
