.................Have you slugged the barrel yet? I have a M1912 Steyr short rifle.

While the lands are sharp and strong, the entire bore is dark. I didn't bother slugging it when I got it, but just loaded what worked well in a M98/08 Brazilian and a 1897 Rem RB. The Steyr blew them all over, but no leading.

Before I do anything else I should slug the thing and try again. BTW, assuming you can use them, the RCBS 7mm-168 and the 150gr Ly Loverin both do well over 21.0grs H4198 + Dacron. Velocity is 1775 fps from the 29" bbls. Another that just blew me away was a 'Lets see what happens' load and that was a full case of WC872 under the RCBS slug.

Top is the 1897 Rem RB and below is the M98/08 Brazilian. These were fired at 50 yards. Issue sights and trigger, visually inspected boolits, thrown charges.

These are the Lyman Loverin with the same load with the velocity just over 2500 fps. Left is the RB and right is the Mauser. You can see a bit of tipping evident. I never did reload the load and attempt to duplicate them, or to shoot them at 100 yards.
