24.0 grs IMR4227 thrown from measure, Pedersoli RB 34" bbl tang rear and insert front sight, RCBS 40-300 FNPB 16 BHN sized .410" visually inspected, as cast 309 grs, Javalina lube, cardwad and dacron, 1600 fps 26ES. Five rounds at 100 yards had 4 @ 0.75" and 5 @ 1.35".

Buckshot,
Is the cardwad between the powder and the dacron or between the dacron and the bullet?

dacron holds the powder in place.
and the card is to help protect the base of the boolit.

...........Perzactly. Dump powder, insert dacron, thumb the cardwad into the casemouth and seat boolit. No, the flier wasn't called. Simply experimental ammo. Dumping powder from a measure and not scaling boolits I will accept a flier as a fact of life, and a penalty for not spending more time with the details.

Here's another 100 yard group of 5 rounds, with a very similar load. Only difference is no flier (it DOES happen once in awile).

When I had a Cimarron Hi-Wall in 40-65, my best groups were with the RCBS 40-300 FNPB and SR4759. I wish I never sold it, it was a great shooter.

...........The real truth is, neither can I really:-) The rifle IS a shooter and no doubt, but please don't think that it or I always do that well. I have pleanty of other targets in my experimental load books that aren't so pretty. Not with this rifle, but I do have a couple where it's a real headache trying to figure out which shot to call a flyer!
