PDP440,

I have made some that weight 85 gr. They have quite a bit of lead sticking out. I'm sure you could go higher as long as the lead doesn't touch the rifling in your barrel, but with this much lead hanging out there you will need to keep the velocity down. The large lead tip can slump I've heard.

Here is a pic of one of my 85 grainers.

Check posts by Bullshop (think that is the correct handel) as he has made some realy cool .243 100 grainer bullets from two 22LR cases. Shot good too as I remember from the post.

Welcome to the sight. Lots to be learned here.

BT, now that you mentioned it, I remember seeing that too, so I just had to search it.

Bullshop, was the jacket for the base pre-expanded for 6 mm before the core was seated or during the seating process?

I think bullshop has gone up to .25 cal as well....

Someday I would love to get my hands on a set of .243 swage dies

Yes Sir the base half is already expanded to 6mm with core seated.
BTW getting back into things now that its winter and found I have three complete sets of 22 cal.
I will be making one available here. The one I will sell/trade will be the Corbin kit for standard loading press. Not sure yet but should include jacket maker, core seat, point form, core mold, core cutter and all necessary punches. I do not think there is a core swage for this set.
