Anybody here ever shoot cast in the tokarev pistoles?
What mold and powder did you use?
I'm thinking of buying one and would like to hear from
some one who has loaded for it .
Thanks for any info.

Look here: http://www.makarov.com/tokloaddata.html

I don't have a Tokarev, but do have several CZ-52's. Note the starting load data is to be reduced 15% for pistols other than the CZ.

I have the Tokarev and had the CZ52. I didn't like the CZ. I use the Lee 100 grain round nose. I use 5.0 grains of Unique for my standard load. It's not ways near hot. Loaded hot the Tokies are very very loud. If you use factory ammo wear ear plugs and ear muffs both. I also cut a mold that is a 100 gr Truncated cone nose for both my 7.62x25 and my 30 Lugers.

Bert - Love yer signature line! Might help some get oriented. I load 120 grain Lyman 311576es with AA#7 in my CZ - then go for a hike to find the brass.. Hit the guy down the street one time with a case and almost got tuned up!

I do.

Lee 311-093-1R mold, water quenched, sized to .311" (to match bore). I tried Bullseye 4.41 grains-.49cc and 4.82 grains-.53cc and also Red Dot 3.27 grains-.49cc and 3.43 grains-.53cc. All loads are within 70% of a max pressure, show muzzle speed in 1000-1250fps interval and are pretty accurate. 5 shots punch a single hole of about .45 diameter at 10 yards.

Agree..didn't like the CZ 52 at all. Bad ergonomics, sharp edges, POI was a foot below where I aimed. Go for the Tokarev instead.

Thanks so far guys,
I just bought a polish WZ-48 this afternoon marked FB and dated 1947
Looks to be in mint shape.
Do you get any leading with the plain base boolets? I thought when the
velosity got up in the 1200 fps range it would mean trouble.
Thanks,
Denny

I don't get leading with plain base in either the Tokie or my 30 Luger and both are hot little rounds.

If you want to save your brass don't load it too hot. My CZ 52 you launch them hunks of hot brass into the outer atmosphere.

Do you think a 120 gr boolet would be to heavy for the tok?
I have the rcbs 120 gr gc mold for the M1 carbine.

I've yet to load any for the CZ-52. When I shoot military ammo, I find very few of the empty cases.

It's not so much it's weight, it's the length. You could cut the load down for loads for 100 gr bullets and try it. Also because of the very short neck it's hard finding an appropriate bullet it's hard to find a good crimping area.

With my CZ52, I installed a wolfe extra power recoil spring.

And with down loading began finding the ejected cases on the same ranch.
