Well

Here they are - its completely different feeling to load your own boolits as opposed to bought ones.

Thanks everyone at cast boolits for their help.

700gr 500 S&W - the bullets are not perfect but they are usable :)

(My seater seems to leave the mark on top) I did try to flare the brass a bit more to make seating easier.

If you have a drill press you can take a file/sandpaper and turn the edge of the seater down a bit to eliminate that ring. I've had to do that to some extent on just about every seating punch and top punch I own.

Let me know when you touch those off, I want to have my Seizmometer ready!

PS what lube are you using?

I'm sorry to hear that my big boolits are causing a stir :(.

The reason I got into casting is right there - you can't buy 700 grain .500 S&W boolits so I decided to make my own.

Now I'm going to cast for other calibers as well....

One pound = 7,000 grains. His boolits are 700 grains. That's one tenth of a pound, not 8 tenths of a pound. Regardless, it borders on "too much" from a handgun.

Stew

mmmm 7,000/700=10 boolits per pound, how about 1 tenth of a pound of lead?

Ooops looks like 2 of us writing a post at the same time, and I got beat to the enter button, and NO that is not too much from a hand gun. I am casting 400g for my Ruger .480 and would love to find a mould for a heavier boolit.

That's a lot of boolit. I bet you could see it coming, like playing dodgeball.

But why?

Some people are recoil junkies. I would be one of them and now I need to get one of those moulds. Now all I need to do is find the money...

But why?

Because it's fun to shoot hand held mortars man. Set some targets up 300 yds out and then watch them hit.........around the targets!

One word: FUN!

PS -- now I want one...........
