Made a quick trip to the range to test fire a couple handloads for these two pistolas.

Colt Official Police mfg 1929. Was armored car guard's gun. Purchased this from an army general (Iraq 2 tours). I wanted a holster gun and he thought it perversely funny to sell a Colt to a S&W man. Crisp trigger, immaculate bore. Cylinder lock is loose and I intend on making an attempt to fix this in the future. Its a fine holster gun and was cheap, as Colt revolvers should be since they're not good for much else:). I fired 24 rds using Lee 158 gr RF cowboy bullet, my own cast sized .358" w/LLA and 5.0 grs Unique. About 850 fps. I was looking for pressure signs and function. It was 100%.

Beretta Model 1934 Romanian military contract of 1941. Condition when purchased was "unissued" "near new". I like this little sucker very much. Has a excellent feel to it even though its a rather tight fit for my hand but the mag extension makes all the difference. I'm gearing up to load 1,500 rds of 9x17mm Scurt (Romanian for "short") using 95 gr round nose cast (purchased) and 3.7 grs Unique. Fired 2 mag fulls. Seemed a little on the light side but function was 100% even rapid fire. I may research the load a little more before I proceed.

Heresy duly noted, and logged for the record.

Dutchman,

What size of bore is on the 9mm? I have a set of swage dies that are dropping at 355 to 356. I could make some light jacketed bullets also if you want to try some.

hi Jeremy

I have about 1,500 cast & RN j-types already. Highly doubt I'll shoot that many in the rest of my life. But I'm going to load the whole batch and be done with the .380 acp.

I like your choice of weapons. I have a Colt OP with a 4 inch barrel and had (sorry I sold it) a model 34 Barretta. Both are fine weapons. My colt was a cop duty weapon for years and I bought it from his widow a couple of years ago to help her out. The Model 34 was an Italian WWII bring back that a friend of my Uncle gave to me. He was getting old and was in a nursing home at the time and his kids did not want it. I like a fool sold it when I wanted something else. Both shoot very well.
