I had been vascillating over all the different offerings from S&W .... so many choices, models and designs. A few weeks back I got to look at a new Ruger LCR. What a fabulous little pictol !! What sold me was the weight of the gun. A 13 ounce serious bundle of bang !! I have been spoiled with the light weight of my P3AT. SO today ... I went to Vance's and took advantage of the sale they were having, and a new LCR followed me home. Now I have to get on the ball and start making loads for this little pistol. I have plenty of wad cutters and 150 grain hollowpoints cast up, along with some jacketed hollowpoints .... Now it's time to get some powder ...either Unique or WW231. All I have is a couple pounds of trail boss for making wadcutter loads, but I need something for high power CCW loads.
Like Russ Potterfield says on his commercial .... 'Man I love this stuff !!'

The more I handle the pistol ....the more I like it. My bro-in-lo brought me up
from Texas some of the snubby holsters I wanted from cheaper than dirt. All
three were the $9.95 holsters. Both holsters that fit in the pants with the
waistband clip are a perfect gun fit. The one holster that is a complete
concealment holster where you can tuck your shirt in over the gun is very nice.
I like how light the gun is in the belt. The third holster is a black nylon
pocket holster with a flap on the outside to cover the printing issue. I have to
modify that holster. The LCR doesn't go down deep enough into the holster
because the bottom is sewn shut. I opened that up along the bottom to let the
muzzle slip thru, the same way my nemesis holster is at the bottom. It covers
the pistol better now and the pistol sits deeper in the holster. I just have to
do a little hand stitching of the edging along the bottom.

Here is the design feature of the pistol that I like really well. People have
negatively commented about the size of the trigger guard. I wear either Isotoner
thinsulate, or black leather thinsulate gloves in the winter. I put on the
gloves and pulled the pistol from it's holster. My finger went right in the
trigger guard, onto the trigger perfectly without fighting the guard !! That is
so important, if something happens .... you might not have time to take your
gloves off to get your finger on the trigger. Wearing winter gloves and rapidly
coming to condition red and drawing this LCR is not an issue !! I applaud Ruger
for this great design feature.

I'm right handed ... I practiced unloading and loading with my left hand only
(right arm disabled due to a knife cut, shot, hurt, etc.) The LCR easily unloads
as the cylinder release button is a simple push down ...no trying to orient the
pistol into the right position to push or pull on the cylinder release to get
the cylinder open. Again ...this is an excellent feature that I like well.

I am pleased with my purchase and my decision to have the LCR as my CCW pistol.
I did get some shooting practice in in the shooting range I built into my
barn. I was using standard loads in a 158 gr. SWC, adn it well and was not uncomfortable. I'd like to try some +p loads down the road to see how they feel.
