Today I just acquired a Winchester 94 (1974 year of manuf.). It looks just like my first deer rifle that I foolishly got rid of years ago. (forgive me I'm starting to tear up a bit) Anyone know where I can a get a "finger lever pin stop screw"? The one on it is a bit bunged up. Also, Opinions? Tang or reciever peep?....I love the looks of the tang, but my rifle isn't drilled and tapped for it.
Havn't bought a mold for it yet, suggestions?...Loads?

Thanks bunches.

the part number is U344910080 and it costs $1.50 from Browning arms. 1-800-322-4626. They will probably charge you $7.00 to ship it so if you need any other parts get them at the same time.
I got an illustrated parts breakdown I think from the Browning web sight. Numrich might also have what you need.

My 94 likes the RCBS 180fn and does OK with 311466 and 311041.

This is one that is not mentioned much for the M 94 but for a 130 grn no GC this is worth considering.

Have both on levers. Either one really helps shooting. I prefer the receiver sight but not by a bunch.

Believe it or not Winchester still has a lot of parts for the post 64 Win 94.

I shoot a lot of 30-30 ammo with cast bullets. I generally use three but have tried others. The three I use are the Lee 170 gr RF GC, Lyman 311041 173 gr GC, and the Lyman 31108 115 gr RF PB. My favorite loads for the 170 and 173 gr bullets are 8 gr Red Dot, 10 gr Unique or 19 gr of IMR 4198 (or AA 5744). These are my target loads I use for silhouette matches at my club out to 200 yards. I have two 94 Winchesters (one with a receiver sight (williams) and one with a tang sight (Marbles). I also have a Pedersoli RB in 30-30. These loads work in all three rifles.

I use the 115 gr bullet with about 5 or 6 gr of red dot for plinking and small game hunting. It works just like a 32-20 and sounds like a 22 RF going off.

Call your local gunsmith(s) you'd be amazed what they might have in a junk box.

I found a 1964 M94 equipped with a *** side mount that had one of the mount screws replacing the pin stop screw. Two quick calls to local gun shop/gun smiths and I found one for 50 cents.[smilie=w:

As for a sight, MidwayUSA had the Williams 5D on sale a while back. They still might. I find that sight to be just about perfect for a M94. Never could see the sense in a scope on a M94. Heh, I've been a crotchety ol' phart on that front since I was about 20.

Your mileage may, as always, vary.

Jack First is a good supplier similar to Brownell's. We used Jack First when they were in California for our gun repairs for our shop and they did repair we didn't have the equipment to do. If you have a contact with Jack Firsy please share it.

Called them a couple of years ago for a Win part. They may have a good supply of certain parts but don't expect a lot of help for parts they don't have or for cross referencing certain inter-changeable parts among models or years of production. Good luck

If you strike out on finding anything from Win or locally, here's a link to Winchester's page. They have included at least a partial list of suppliers of certain Winchester aftermarket/obsolete parts. There are others around the country not included in this list.

One thing I found on my 94 with a peep sight I installed a Fiber Optic front sight insert. With a peep sight that is a great combination especially on cloudy days and dusk and dawn situations. No problems in the sunlight either. It works great. Of course I do not have a hood on the front sight but then most do not that I have seen.

I also use a FO front sight in conjunction with a peep (Lyman) on my Model 94, sans hood.

FWIW - For those who MUST have a hood over their FO front sights, Williams now makes a special version with a skylight cut into the top (#70031).

Thats good to know it might protect that front sight a bit if you can keep it on the sight base.

I'm so glad to see this thread. I want to vent my speen while I'm still irritated.:-P Went to the range Tuesday. After shooting the M-94 Trapper I noticed that the skin between the knuckles of my thumb was ripped and bleeding. Now how in the heck????
Proved out to be the windage adjustment knob on the dang tang sight. After thinking about it for a while I have come to appreciate the Williams 5D. It won't jump out and bite your thumb. I also found out that my 60 year old eyes don't do all that well thru that thumb bitin' tang sight. So I bought another XS Scout Scope mount from Brownell's. I put one on the Big Bore 444 and I like it a lot. Fast like the tang sight but for me a lot more clear. If your eyes are young and you're set on a tang sight I'd recommend the Lyman but for me they have lost their appeal.
Thanks again for the opportunity to vent. I feel better already.
