"Bob S" long ago posted on another board the calculated MOA differences for each of the rear sight settings on one of his 1911 long rifles. With the usefulness of this data for reduced cast bullet load shooters, I thought it useful to post that info here:

Change in elevation for rear sight settings:

Rear setting / Delta Elev. (in.) / Delta Elev. (MOA) / Cum. Elev. Delta (MOA)
300 Meters .015 2.1 0.0
400 .030 4.1 2.1
500 .030 4.1 6.2
600 .035 4.8 10.3
700 .035 4.8 15.1
800 .045 6.2 19.9
900 .045 6.2 26.1
1000 .055 7.5 32.3
1100 .060 8.2 39.8
1200 .070 9.6 48.0
1300 .080 11.0 57.6
1400 .075 10.3 67.9
1500 .090 12.3 110.2
1600 .090 12.3 122.5
1700 .100 13.7 136.2
1800 .095 13.0 149.2
1900 .105 14.4 163.6
2000 178.0

I have the math to do all these calculations myself, but it always comes out wrong when I try.

Judge, I believe that should be "IG 1911." Infanteriegewehr.

LG (Lange Gewehr) is used in Die Repetiergewehr Der Schweiz. Just plain Gew 1911 or G1911 is also common in Swiss use. The fractal "I" is rarely used by the Swiss.

Thanks! I've seen "Guisan" over on the Swiss Rifles board use the "Infanteriegewehr" term, I think. Hadn't seen the "LG." "Long Rifle" certainly makes sense to me!
