I just joined castboolits and also just bought a Merkel 9.3X74R double rifle. Would one of you fine gentlemen direct me to someone who makes GC moulds for this caliber of .366 diameter?
Thank you for your assistance.

I have two that I am fond of -- an NEI .366 -304-GC (#175) mould that weighs about 315 grains when cast with WW alloy. Also a Mountain Molds 286 grains GC-FP made to my specs. Both of these moulds shoot very well out of my 9.3x57 Husky. I use Hornady .375 crimp-on GCs for both and size all bullets .368".

Might ask the guys over at the AR forum in the Double Rifle section. But I would like to know as well as I shoot a Chapuis 9,3 double.

Thanks to both of you. Think I may order that NEI mould and also go to AR forum. Snowwolfe, do your reloads ever use AA5744? I use it and Trail Boss in my .450/.400 and my .470NE.

 I'm turning green with envy. Would love a Merkel double in any cal. but 9.3 the most. What load was it regulated for. I saw that they offered a light weight on a 28 ga. frame that was regulated with the 232 grain load...Good luck.

I used the Chapuis on my last two moose. Load was 286 gr Woodleighs with 65 grains of IMR 4831.

For practice I use the Speer 270 gr and same powder charge. Shoots to the same point of impact as the Woodleighs.

For your larger rifles ask the guys on the AR forum. Some of them have a wealth of information on cast bullets for the larger doubles. Recently ordered a Searcy 450 Nitro Express 3 1/4 myself and with all the .458 info floating around it should be a cinch to find a load for it as well.

I would like to see a 9.3mm rifle offered on the market at a price that the everyday man could afford. I'd like either a side by side, or a O/U myself...

Remington imports a SxS in .45-70 from Russia, and Marocchi imports the old Valmet/Tikka design from Italy in 9.3x74R. These are about as low cost as you're going to get:

I've shot a lot of cast bullets in my Valmet 412 9.3x74R O/U, all of them light. I only got a gas check mold recently, and have not shot any of them yet. I find even heavy Jacketed loads pleasant to shoot in the 412.

I eventually gave up on doing a group buy for 9.3mm bullet molds, because there are a lot of small groups, each wanting very different mold designs. I bought a custom one from Mountain Molds.

You can still find the Remington imported rifle for sale. Bought mine for $700 on Gunbrokers just a couple of months ago.
On occassion, a gent on the AR forum does a "group buy" for Chapuis doubles. Last time around I think the UGEX model with ejectors in 9,3x74R went for about $4,500. These rifles were built to the specs you requested and from deposit to delivery was about 6 months.

Don't know what it is regulated for but I'll find something it likes to send downrange. Always wanted a hogsback buttstock and a sidelock.
