Loading data for a 215 grain boolit is kind of hard to find; so I would appreciate some help. I need some load suggestions for the Lyman 358627 in a 16 inch Winchester model 94AE. I have made up dummies and the little carbine will load, feed, chamber, lock, extract, and eject with the bullet seated out and crimped in the lower crimping groove.

Boolits are acww with Lyman gas checks and FWFL. I have Remington .357 brass, WSP and WSPM primers.

Suitable powders on hand are Accurate 1680, Hercules 2400, Hodgdon H110 and LILGUN.

I need to find a load for this bullet in this little carbine since I can not get it to feed in my 35 Whelen:-(.

Thanks for the help,

Robert

Go to lasc.us and look in Glenn Fryxell's articles. "A bullet for all seasons" is specifically on 358627, IIRC. Lots of other good articles there.

There are some good heavyweight boolit designs for 357s coming out of late. The 357 levergun develops some serious horse power with a 180 grain+ boolit. I haven't done much with 358627, but the 360 180 WFN from Night Owl Enterprises is my current favorite for MARLIN Cowboy rifles and assorted hand guns.

Thanks, I had read that article before and it did not click that the data included loads for the .357 magnum.

I've not used that boolit yet in a lever gun but it does work well in the Dan Wesson with H110. I just can't seem to get it to cycle right in the Marlin.

Part-timer -- Try loading it into .38 Special cases and see how those cycle in your levergun.

Thanks Glen I'll give it a try. I was wanting to get it to work in mag brass because I thought it would make a great boolit for deer hunting. I just can't seem to get the AOL short enough to work.
