Lee Bator mold, which top punch?

The only top punch I have for .22 is a Lyman 415. It mauls the nose of the bator bullet. Can anyone recommend a top punch for the 4500 that will fit the bator boolit? Thanks!

Sorry, no help here. I use the Lee push thru for my .22s. Cast my first Bators today, you can cast and drop 'em as fast as you can move your hands. They fall right out of the mold.

Dang!! I came over here expecting to see 4 or so ANSWERS! I am wondering the same thing, I made one out of a bolt ,but its not good. I had been looking at Midsouth at the one for the RCBS mold ,it looks to have a flat point, anyway. But I'm not sure it would work either. Isuppose Icould get it and "form fit "it with JB weld?:redneck:

I formed one with JB weld. I tried the 438 and the 646, both worked, but both of them seemed to ding the nose some, so I just made my own. Billy

Adapting one with JB Weld or hot melt glue is probably your best bet. I dug through an assortment that I have and didn't find anything that seemed to work well out-of-the-box. Had a couple that probably could be reworked, but not stock.

Also using the Lee push thru. My fingers hurt trying to wrestle with those tiny bullets putting on checks and sending them through the sizer.

Turn the top punch upside down. Drip some candle wax into the cavity & push the nose of a boolit into it before the wax cools down & hardens. Then, when the wax does cool & harden, flip it back over & put it back into your press. It will work just fine.
