I'm thinking about a Lyman 457193 for a trapdoor level plinking load (w/ 5744). I've used Magnus, etc. for heavier loads, but I want to use up some lead...

Try that bullet and 27 gr of 5744. I was shooting that load today in my C Sharps Model 1875 rifle and was printing groups the stayed inside the 10 ring of a 25 yard slow fire pistol target at 100 yards in the rain and wind we had today. I fired four 10 shot groups and got 100 - 5X, 100 7X, 100 4X and 99 8X. I called the pulled shot in the 9 ring but it still was there.

NickSS: Thanks for the reply.
Do you know your bhn? I was thinking of trying it soft (about 30 to 1 maybe 35 to 1). I've had very good accuracy and no leading with that mix in a .44 mag Win 94 with Ly#429667 RNFP and 18 gr. of 5744. btw: that's some really good shooting! scope? tang peep?
