I have been doing a lot of reading here and swaging interests me. Might be time to save up my pennies. one quick question. Could 45 bullets be made out of 40 brass??
I would think so, but would like to hear from the more knowledgeable people here.
Thanks

.40 brass is about .430 while .45 bullets are about .452 so your .40 brass is going to need to be annealed and drawn with lots of pressure.

I have taken 9mms up to .410 before and it was a bit of a stretch to get the rim to completly fill out.

I bet the 40 would be able to fill out to .451 but the rim might not.

You will have to anneal the cases and put them under pressure gradually and in stages. I did about three hundred about seven years ago and I spent a lot of time in my work shed. The bullets filled out well and recoverd projectiles from the dirt berm at the local out door range showed that the rifling was engraved on the body and the rim of the bullet.
