Anyone fool with this mold/bullet? Looks like the little brother to the .452 255-grain RNFP, which has always been a good performer for me.

I just ,yesterday , recieved one of these molds by mistake, (mine, I failed to check my order). I will probably keep it since I have a 44 mag and no molds for it. It will get me started with CB's and give be trading stock with my friends who have other molds. I intended to order a 30 cal 113gr FP mold. I havent cast anything in it yet but will post any results as soon as I get them.

I have one and have been using it in a Win Legacy .44. Depending on the powder and charge it works fine or it will lead. I am still playing with it.

If using Unique, keep the charge 8gns or under. As I recall 231 worked fine too. I am now working with WC820 but have not shot it yet.

I think the trick is to use slower powders. I'm sure there are others here who will know more about that though.

I have a 6 cavity mold that I have used to cast thousands for a friend's .44 magnums. He uses them in CAS and has been doing pretty well. Good bullet at least for cowboy shooting.

Mine casts at .4285 and I had to beagle it to get it to work. It is now one of my favorites for 44 russian loads. It will hold enough lube to go 20 shots or more with black.

I have a couple of these in DC. Both cast boolits around .431-432 with ww +1% tin, so I feel fortunate. Weight of these boolits runs around 212g. 9g of Green Dot performs very well with this boolit in all my .44's. Velocity runs around 1025 for 4" and 1050 for 5" Smiths. Pleasant on the recoil and a good choice for the 329PD and other light .44's.--Shuz

I have the six cavity Lee 429-200-RF and with HP38 im getting great accuracy but terrible leading. The bore on my Rossi 92 is .432 so not good bullet fit at all for my gun. Ive also experimented with the WC820 but not that accurate and again terrible leading. Im sure the group buy I got in on for the RanchDog TLC432-185-RF will fix my bullet fit problem though.

I think I will try beagleing this mould and see if that helps.

Excuse my ignorance fellas. What is beagling?
I went ahead and ordered the two-cavity just to have a lightweight plinker to shoot from a 10.5-inch barreled Super Blackhawk. As this is also a silhouette gun, I'd love to have long-range accuracy, but I am guessing this bullet is not the one.

Basically shimming the mould to make the diameter of the bullet bigger. This mould is just fine for many guns but on my rossi I have a bore size of .432 and that .429 diameter bullet is to small for the bore which results in major leading for me.

Here is a link about Mould Enlargement (Beagling)
