Does anyone have one of Mr. Blackmon's presses? For $150 it seems like quite a bargain. From his flyer , I could order his press, core swage die, core seat die, and point form die for $520. Another $75 for the 22 jacket maker, and $95 for a core mold. Total $690, Corbin's kit is $783 plus another $200 for the core swage die and no press. So is his stuff too good to be true? From what I read I shouldn't swage on a reloading press.

What's the website? or do you have a online version of the flyer?

Never used them, but I'm looking for a decent set of cheap dies for .224 swaging in the next few months... and that might be the answer..

I use them and am very happy with them. Never used Corbin's so I really can't compare. I swage 55gn and they are more accurate than factory loads. His dies will NOT fit in a regular press.

If your looking at getting them in the next few months you probably should have ordered six months ago - there can be a looooong wait from any of the die makers. Blackmon only does it as a hobby.

I spoke to Blackmon a month or so ago and he said he doesn't do that anymore.

Plumber, how old is your flier?

He emailed it to me last week. He did say he doesn't make reloading press dies anymore.

The Blackmon is a version of the old, original Ted Smith SAS Mity Mite horizontal press. Smith made them out in Oregon for many years.

They work well for swaging lead alloy boolits as well. I've had mine over twenty years now, it turns carefully cast 32 cal Schuetzen boolits into record setting ones.

I use the BSS swaging press with a set of 22 dies for 52 grain bullets. I'm happy with Dr Blackmon's products

The quality of bullets produced in Blackman dies matches anything that the bullet making World has ever seen. And at affordable prices. With Nemi the leader in BR quality dies at $4-5000 a set up including presses maybe more Blackman is within reach of many.

I have Simonson and Rorschach in 6 and 22. Along with 3 Rock Chucker and A2 presses. If I had to do it again might go Blackman.

No. Even you you do get a Blackmon press the dies are smaller than 7/8". More like 5/8".

Plumber,

I have 3 of the BSS presses and 4 sets of dies for them. I also have a 4-cavity core mold and a rimfire jacket maker kit. I am very pleased with all of his products. I have turned out many nice boolits with it.

For those interested, I have a set of 41 mag swage dies from Mr. Blackmon for the BSSP that I have no need of and would be willing to trade for a set of 30 cal dies or other for the same. Send me a PM if interested.
