I hope this is ok to ask here. Would anyone know what a spar-t press might be worth ? There is no primer tray but has 3tubes and the primer assy looks to be ok.
Dusty but good cond, turret is tight,no play, turns smooth, threads are all good.
I know its an oldie with straight arm not the cam action.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Mike,

It's OK to ask, I paid $65 for one Last year at a gunshow and traded a Lee Pro1000 in 45 Colt for 1 two years ago.

I think I paid $20 for my last one, but that was a twenty years ago.

Are you thinking of buying it or did you have one for sale. If the later, I'd be interested.

I rarely use my old Spar-T but it's still in excellant condition. I would be embarassed to ask more than maybe $35 for it and it's worth more than that to me, so I keep it and use it for special tasks from time to time. It's tube fed primer feeder system works the best of any press mounted arrangement I ever saw but I quite press priming over 20 years ago, been using a Lee Auto Prime instead.

About all I would recommend it for would be pistol loading, the single toggle lever system can handle rifle stuff but it's pretty hard to do so. Modern compound toggle systems are far superiour to the old way.

The Spar-T is a common site on ebay and never fails to sell in the 65-75 dollar range. It is a popular press for certain.

I just gave my Spar T to myy Son In Law for his first press. I bought mine new for $37 in 1971 or so. Here they are going for between 50 and 75 dollars depending on condition. If you get it and need primer arms i think I still have a few spares.

Lyman's current primer arm fits and works on the Spar-T press. At least the two I have, Sons share one. Primer catchers are an accessory to be on the look out for. My experience has been that Lyman customer service can sell you every thing that the Spar-T press needs, except the used primer catcher.
