Just tested out Freechex tool made Gas Checks---in the .357 and .44 Magnums using three guns in each caliber.

In the .357 I used the Lee 358156 bullet with 8.0 grains of Unique in a Ruger Blackhawk/S & W 27/Marlin 1894C. Was superbly accurate in them all with no fouling or leading, with average Muzzle Velocities of 1,307/1,289/1491 respectively. This will be my bullet/loading of choice for this caliber. SSd deviations were quite low. Bullets sized top .359"

In the .44 magnum used the Lyman 429244 mold..I did not used the recommended thicker aluminum stock but .009" aluminum flashing..many of which fell from the bullet in flight. I used a Ruger Superblackhawk/S & W Mo. 20/USRA 94 and 11.5 Grains of Unique for Avg velocities of 1,250/1,188/1,440 respectively. Accuarcy was excllent with minimal fouling..just a tinge. Again this will be my loadiung/bullet for thsi caliber from now on. Bullets Sized to .431". Next time I will try thicker aluminum stock, the size recommended with the Freechex tool. Std Deviations were also quite low.

Might also mention I also used a .243 / 6mm Freechex tool---I coudl not tell any difference in performance between them and regular Hornady 6mm gas checks.
