Anyone found a good way to get some insulation around the 20#PIV? The outside gets pretty damn hot.

That's the hand warmer feature for casting in the winter.:mrgreen:
But no, I haven't heard of anything yet. It is hard on the knuckles when you bump it without a glove on.

Putting insulation into the 1/4" space available between the pot and the outside aluminum housing isn't going to keep it cool after a (short) while. I'd suggest a second set of Al shielding, open top and bottom, set out ~ 1/2" around the outside. It would still get hot but not enough to give immediate "crispy"
