It's a single cavity Lyman and appears to be for a muzzleloader. The only number I could find stamped on it was 464. Haven't cast anything in it, but the diameter appears to be somewhere around 45 to 50 caliber.

Looking at the lyman site, it's pretty close to the 45 and 50 caliber maxi, but I think the nose is a little more blunt.

Also, dad got a 311041 and a 358311 at the same time. How well would the 311041 work in a 308?

I can't help on the mold ID but the 311041 is a great boolit for your .308

Without a picture of the mould in question it's impossible to tell.

Could be an older Lyman Maxi. Is maybe aluminum or anodized aluminum and has vent lines only on one half the set of blocks. Could be a T/C mould. I believe if I remember right they were mad for T/C by Lyman or Lyman bought them out, something like that but the only marking was a 3 numbers that had nothing to do with the mould size or identification other than to mark two halves that went together. If it is a lyman their moulds do change a bit from time to time as they make new mould cherries.
