I have a question about prices on a couple of 1911's.

1. Smith and Wesson - stainless, three dot sights, external extractor, seems like their basic pistol that came out a few years ago, (N.I.B.)

2. Colt Series 80, stainless, Pachmyer grips, (N.I.B.).

The S & W seems like a very good pistol, I have heard nothing but good things about it, but I hate the looks of the eternal extractor.

I have heard bad things about Colt quality, but this is a very nice looking pistol, and I thought it would hold its value well, not real important, since I would shoot it alot, but worth some consideration.

While I am at it,

3. Smith and Wesson Model 15-4, four inch barrel, fairly good shape.

As I said in another thread, I visited four gun shops yesterday and have probably called 25 in the last week. These are guns I have considered, but I know very little to nothing about 1911's or used S & W revolvers. Any input would be appreciated.

I believe the Colt's and Smith are about the same price -- between 7 and 8 hundred bucks.

The Model 15 goes for between 175 and 250 depending on condition (I'm assuming .38 special).

Wow. I'd like to live where August does!

In KC, you'll pay $300+ for a decent Mod 15 and about $1000 to 1100 for
the S&W 1911 and $900+ for the Colt 1911 unless there is a problem with them.
