I have a smith and wesson 629 that is less than a year old. I slugged the barrel and the cylinder and the barrel came out to .430 to .431 and the cylinder was .429 What do i do? Is that enough to be concerned about? Im wondering if this is is why i am getting so much lead in the cylinder and barrel? What do you guys think?
If your cylinder measurements are correct, you'll have to ream them to over barrel size to eliminate them as being a cause for leading.

Send it in to Cylindersmith. He will ream you cylinder slightly larger than bore diameter. Just send him you measurements also.

When you send in your cylinder, also send in a slug. That way, the smith can match the cylinder to the bore measurements as appropriate.

You can if you have the know how and skills. I have never done it but it shouldn't be that hard.

Brownells sells the tools, but they are expensive enough that if you are just doing one or two cylinders it is better to send them to the cylindersmith. I sent him three, all different calibers and was very happy with his work and turn around time.

You can buy a lap from MSC and lap it out if you have a drill press. The lap is
about $15 and then you need to buy various grades of lapping compound, too.

Im wondering also if im putting too much of a crimp on the boolit. Because it looks like there is alot of lead around where the casing is sitting in the cylinder.

the barrel came out to .430 to .431 I would question your ability to measure correctly, sorry. Before you go making adjustments make sure you have a problem in the first place. How do cast bullet from a good quality maker preform? Do they lead, or do your bullets lead? Here is now not to do it. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=65401 Send it back to the factory if your S&W doesn't preform correctly.

If the S&W has 5 grooves and lands, how was it measured?
