Has anyone ever used the ideal 6.5 266324 mold?
It's a plain base design of 119 grs round nose.
Was wondering what they drop at and how they would
shoot in a 6.5 carcano.
Thanks for any info you can supply,
Denny

Never used one, but the Lyman Cast bullet 1st edition says "Originally designed for the 6.5 Mann. A very good bullet at moderate velocities for target or game in all 6.5 calibers." I've been toying with a somewhat similar one in 6mm, the 244203. Shot well at 25 yds, but velocities only in the 1100 range, much faster and accuracy goes quickly. YMMV, Billy

I have the HP version of that mould and I've had problems getting it to shoot accurately. So far I've only tried it in the 6.5 TCU, but I've gotten other cast bullets to shoot well in that gun, and have never gotten this one to group worth beans. Maybe I just haven't tried that "magic combination" yet....

I suspect that if you keep velocity down and size them fat enough to fit your gun's throat that you could make a nice plinking load.

The Ideal 266324 was the first mold that I bought back in 1960-61.

Mine drops at .266-.267 cast out of 2 parts WW and One part linotype. They will weigh about 115 to 117 grs depending on the exact mixture of the metal I am using.

This is not a target boolit. It is a great plinking boolit in my 6.5x55 that is fun to shoot. Not much noise and no recoil and no gas check.........................Terry

Made out of WW mine is .269 at 123gr. With a back wards gas check in a 6.5 Manlier, one try came up with 8'". I think I was pushing it a bit too fast at 1700fps. That was using 16gr of 2400. ...Geo
