Not familiar with your Lyman boolit designation but I load .35 Whelen AI with 18-20 grains of Alliant 2400 and 250 grain gas checked LBT boolit
TRM :
I shoot the 358318 in HP form out of my 358 Win. and 35 Ack Improved Ruger #1 rifle. Here is a group ( 5 shots ) that I fired at 50 yards with 13.0 Red Dot in the 35 Ack Imp. Whelen with the 358318 HP.
Like Bret4207 says below.....that bullet will weigh more than you think. With lube and g/c my 358318 HP's weigh 262 grains. Even with 13.0 grs. of Red Dot , it is no field mouse load.
Sorry for the blurry photo.

16.0 2400 gr works fine in my Whelen. Weigh that boolit, you'll be surprised how heavy it is. It'll lope along 16-1700 fps and penetrate like all get out.

My Whelen load using the 358318HP that only weighs 235gr from WW will print 2" all day long. The load I settled on for deer clocks 2050fps using 40gr surplus 4895. It's a thumper from the bench but while hunting you pay no attention to the recoil....Geo
I"ll have to try your 40.0 gr. IMR 4895 Load in my Ack Improved Whelen with my 358318 HP .
Thanks,
Ben
