Does anybody use one of these. It has heavy steel around the die and the ram. (Like a big C all the way around) A small opening in the front, and its off set. ( Like you have to run the ram with your right hand) Is this a left handed press. Any thoughts???

I have one and it is a good reliable press. I use it for odd tasks. I never noticed the issue you raised in your post because I am left handed and always raise the ram with my right hand. It would be awkward to insert cases into the holder with the right hand.

The press cost me a whole $1.00 in a complicated buy/sell/trade deal a few years back.

There are three versions of the U-3. The original model did not have a hole in the side to access the shellholder set screw. A hasty fix was a hole drilled near the top along the right side, like the one pictured below. Later production has the hole near the bottom.
The U-3 was my first full size press.
