303 Brit versus 25/303 with PP

How would a 130gr PP 303 Brit compare with a 120gr PP 25/303? The theoretical velocity from the Brit would be around 2950fps and the 25 would do a max of around 2675fps. Both have 1-in-10 twist. I suspect that the 25 max velocity would be more in reach than the 303. Any ideas how these boolits would perform an game, comparatively?

303Guy, I do not know anyone, who is fortunate enough to have a 25/303.
I have read though they are a sprite cartridge. Like a .257 Roberts.
You guys gunsmithed the .303. We gunsmithed the 30-06.
At any rate, paper patched, it should be capable of dynamic performance. You will have to do it my way though. On game, it should be devastating. Good mid range performance.

What game???Well, I hesitate to say but Red deer? Red deer is not my intended quarry, I have the 303 for that but for general hunting which includes rabit and hare and possibly Fallow deer and pig if I'm lucky.

Right now I am deciding which rifle to develope a new mold for for higher velocity and flatter trajectory.

That 25/303 is real sweet shootin', especially with a suppressor.

You will get a more B.C. co-efficiant bullet with the 25 cal for the same weight and therfore flatter tragety!!

Less and fast is only good so far till the wind blowing and drag makes 'em useless compared to normal or bigger bullets.

How far you wanna shoot??
Take that and then work out how different Jword projo's gunna shoot at that distance.
Then compare calibres.
Wind drift drop etc.

I had a look at the sight you gave me. Have you had a look at JBM Ballistics? It's a bit more complicated but is also more comprehensive and allows us to use metric units if we choose (and we can mix them). Anyway, it seems that a 130gr 303 boolit would outperform a 125gr 25 boolit on both energy and trajectory right out to 300m even though the 25 boolit has a vastly better BC! But, we are still comparing a long skinny boolit to a fat short one, both being made from lead alloy. I still have no idea how the one would compare to the other on game - expansion versus penetration versus boolit failure and all the unknowns based on different alloys and hardness. You can see my dilema! Maybe it will be easier to get a heavy for caliber 25 PP boolit to shoot straight than a light for caliber 303. Mmmmm.... ????
