Hi all,
I remeber a while ago someone on this forum had a set of .410 slug dies made. I think they said at some point they were going to post the plans. Does anyone know if they did as .410 slug costs a small fortune in the uk and I would quite like to attempt to reload my own

All the best

I checked with Lee and Lyman. No one seems to do a mold for .410 slug

How much choke does your shotgun have? Yes, the .410 is actually a caliber and not a gauge so one would naturally assume a standard diameter bullet in that caliber should work. However...

I shot the choke tube right out of an 11-87 12 gauge while using 00 buckshot and a modified choke. We figured the shot column did not compress like finer shot probably does. I trimmed the damaged portion and now it works fine.

So, I'd be leery about using an alloy that might be too hard or a bullet of too large a diameter to begin with. You could slug the bore and start with soft lead boolits. One of the Corbins undoubtedly makes swage dies for this.

I sure wouldn't use a jacketed bullet for this application unless it was of a smaller diameter in a sabot.

Mine works fine with no constriction.
