Still uncovering stuff. Anyone have experience with either of these two?
I have a 270 Winchester and a .278 sizing die, maybe I should try them.

Is one of those a RN? I have an old Ideal # unknown for a 150gn RN that works most wonderfully out of a Contender barrel in 270 Ren.

The 280412 is a 136 grain round nose design. The 280468 is the Loverin. It was available in 2 weights, a 109 and 114 grain. The heavier one has one more driving band. Mine drop at 109 and 120 grains from ACWW. The mould may have a suffix -S or -L. This would stand for short and long, which were the two version of the bullet.

Make sure you start with your bore ABSOLUTELY free of any copper fowling before you start loading.

Here's a good link to another thread with lots more good readin' material!

I didn't have much luck with 412. The design had a short bearing surface and the nose diameter was way too small to bore ride in my rifles.

The 468 (114gr) works well for me at around 1400-1500 fps (red dot or unique) or, after oven heat treating, up to 1900 fps (H4198).

Mine must be the 412 and with WW its right at 150gn. I do not own a 270 Win rifle so have never tried it in anything besides the 270 Ren 10" contender. In the contender it leaves nothing to be desired in accuracy.

The best off-the-shelf 150gr molds for the 270 Win are the RCBS 270-150-SP or the Lyman 487405 (a 7mm Loverin, sized down).

The caliber could use a version of Lyman 311291/358009 scaled to .279 on the bands .2705 on the nose.

The 280412 groups very nicely if you lap the nose out to .269/.270, all it takes is time and a little lapping compound. Mine was .264, took a while. Been looking for a 280468 but haven't seen one at a price that I was willing to pay. It stays on the back-up list along with the Lee C-277-125-R (IIRC). Lyman, in its infinite wisdom, doesn't catalog a .270 anymore.
