I am in need of 44 mag brass. I have always used Remington but I am a little mad at them for doubling the price in recent years. I see Midway has Starline 44 mag for $90/500. I read the customer reviews and I was a little taken back. Some reviews are old but they complain about quality of the cases and not getting the number advertised. I have had good luck with my 454 Starline brass but that is the only Starline that I purchased (and I did that many years ago). Does anyone have an opinion on a recent Starline brass purchase?
Thanks
Mark

Hello Mark
I purchased some 44Mag. this spring from Starline. I'm new to the 44 but i have been happy so far. I don't think i paid quite that much for mine through the manufacturer. Of the ones i have been using i probably have reloaded them about 10 time each using lighter loads, I am now starting to make up hunting loads so time will tell.
I did measure some cases befor loading. They were very consistant. I looked at lenth, an inside an outside diamiters.
An they do go bang everytime i pull the triger. LOL

I have been using StarLine for several years and I've never had ANY problems.

By the way, you can get it cheaper from the source. http://www.starlinebrass.com

I just purchased some 44 mag Starline brass about 8 months ago. I have been using there brass in 45 acp and 40 s&w for a long time. As far as quality I feel it is superb. But on my last order I was shorted by 89 pcs from an order of 500. I called them and they replaced them with no problem with exactly 89 pcs. If you are ordering from Midway you should not have a problem because they buy in bulk and repackage them.

I just got 500 starline in 45LC and .357mag, have been using them for many years and personally think they are the best brass available.
Order directly from Starline it is cheaper than Midway.

I started using Starline for .32 mag since it's the only game in town really unless you can afford factory loads to reload.

I still am shooting the same stuff I bought 3 years ago.

The 32-20 brass is in a whole different category as others since it's thicker and lasts a long long time. Adjust loads accordingly though. I am shooting the loads in faily strong actions and haven't had any problems with listed loads in manuals.

In my opinion, can't go wrong with it.

Thanks all. I looked at Starline's website and they are about $5 cheaper than Midway and don't charge for shipping. They do charge charge a couple of dollars for insurance. Of course, they are out of stock!!!! I might just wait.

IF you order from Starline go ahead and put your order in and as soon as they get that caliber casing they ship it out to you, they don't charge your charge card until item is shipped. They are real easy to work with.

It's been my experience with starline to go ahead and order even if the website says out of stock until a the date listed. Every time i've done that, my brass was shipped cosiderably earlier than the date shown on the website for a restock date.

They both shipped within the week!

Good brass and good company!

As has been stated on the above post, put your order in and you might be surprised at when you receive the brass. I've bought direct from Starline for years and when I ordered some 44-40 in late Sept. it was said to be on back order until Nov. 15th. I received my brass on Oct 12th.

I've had good luck with Starline. Just got 200 rds of 38 S&W and spent part of the afternoon prepping it to load this evening. All less one fell within .001 in legnth. The odd ball was .0005 longer.
Here's a write up on them for those who may be interested. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQY/is_8_49/ai_103381591/

I bought a couple thousand 45 Colt cases several years ago from starline and have been using the same cases ever since. Many, many heavy loads through them and never a problem. I've also used 10mm, 41 mag, and 45 ACP starline brass recently. Top notch stuff.

I doubt that Felix. Tell you why. If anyone need brass/ammo it's the Israeli's. Read this from Wideners Reloading:

Brand New IMI 5.56 Ammunition Inbound M193 & M855 Expected arrival Date is the End of October !!
NOTE: This is not surplus, rejected or used junk that has come on the market before. This is brand new, first quality, 2009 headstamp, top of the line mil spec IMI ammo. No rejects or seconds. This is the first time in 9 years that this ammo has been in the US.

So wonder why in 9 yrs they can afford to export their current military cartridge?

Mark, I have restocked with 5 different caliber of Starline cases. No complaints so far. I actually find that their flash holes are far more uniform than the Winchester & others I was using. I bought in 500 rd batches directly from Starline (cheaper)
see http://www.starlinebrass.com/index.php You WILL need to square up the case mouths. I like them.

I've had excellent service from Starline. Ordering directly from them is the best, cheapest way to get brass. They are often out of stock on some calibers, so be sure to note status before completing order.

I too have had good experiences with Starline brass. I have used their .44Mag, .45LC, 10mm, and .38 super. All very good brass. I have never ordered direct though, I didn't know you could until this post, I have always got it from Midway. Now I know!! Thanks!

I ordered directly from Starline. 500 pieces of 44 mag (they said out of stock ETA 11/15/09) and 500 pieces of 44 Special (they said out of stock ETA 12/15/09). The 500 pieces of 44 mag arrived (502 pieces to be exact). I rechecked the website and they have extended the ETA for 44 mag. I guess the moral of the story is to go ahead and order even if they are out of stock. Had I not read the above post, I would have waited until the website shows both in stock before ordering. Thanks for the tip.

Well so many of you like it I'm willing to give it a chance. I just ordered 500 cases, with an ETA of Dec 15.

I started using Starline when they were the new kid on the block. My origional purchace was on price alone. back then they were cheepest by far. To my plesant suprise quality was second to none. You'll have no problems.

You want to order even if it is not in stock. I noticed they were not in stock, and waited a couple of weeks. Then I decided to go ahead and order, and when I did, I found the price had jumped quite a bit, even though it was still not in stock.

I'll chime in too.

I purchased 500 starline .45 Colt a few months ago from (ack!!) Midway and almost had second thoughts due to the terrible reviews. The batch I got was exact in count, as accurate and consistent in length as I've ever seen, and the primer pockets were uniform and not too tight (like was a common complaint). The only prep I had to do after measuring them was to debur the rolled ridge on the mouths to prevent shaving boolits upon firing. One box now has 12 reloads on it and one mouth anneal and a couple of trims, still going strong!

top shelf stuff IMO.

I feed my 32-20 barrel Starline only. The silhouette shooters that demand the best only use Starline. I'll use Winchester if it's available locally, otherwise just Starline. It's premium brass. There just isn't any better.
