Just wondering if some one can tell me what size they might throw with 50/50, WW/Pure.
I need .459 and I am trying to work out how to order a sizer from lee custom shop.
I have a lee 405 grain hollow base but it throws bullets from .462 to .465
I'm in need of a bullet from my Marlin in around to 400 grain size. If the RCBS wont do me feel free to make other sugestions.
I have been looking at the pile driver JR as well.
i have that rcbs mold
mine drops 50/50 ww-pure at right around .460-.4605
works well in my marlin 95

My RCBS 45-405 drops at .4605 with an alloy of 55%pb & 45% WW. I size to .459 and they shoot great in 5 different rifles including 2 Marlins.

Mine dropped at .458 with W/W Plus 2%Sn. I eventually lapped it to get another 2 thou.

Mine drops at .4596" with #2 alloy. I shoot the RD 420 in my 45/70 but this boolit is the hands down accuracy winner with 5 shot groups of 5/8" @ 100yds out of my 1895.

We must have all bought our RCBS molds out of the same batch! Mine are falling in the same .460" bracket as everyone else is!!Robert

mine drops at .457 with wheel weights and .4575 with #2.
I just cant get it to throw any fatter. going to try and open it up after deer season.
Edited to add I cant get gas checks to stay on these slugs either. Even after annealing them. It's the only Lemon I've ever gotten.

If you can find a mold to drop a .459-.461 bullet then opening a .457 Lee sizer to .459 is easy. Use a drill press or even a regular electric drill that can be fixed onto something. Get some 200-400 grit sandpaper and some 600-1000 grit sandpaper. Wrap (use masking tape to attach) the coarser grit on a steel rod. Add a little oil. Between the hands.... rotate the Lee sizer on the spinning rod while applying a little side pressure. Check often by slugging. As you approach .459 switch to finer grit paper.
