Bought some from Bartlett at Knob Creek. He said it loads like unique and thats what I have started doing for less than max. loads in 38, 357, 45 Colt and 20 gauge. anyone else loading this stuff? the flakes look more silvery in color compaired to Unique. Anyone know what its original application was for?

Bartlett knows. Could try asking him.

Yes, of course. I was just wondering if any here are loading it.

That is totally different from the m9 powder I have.
The powder I have gave a burn rate equivalent to 3031. Mine is a very coarse grain extruded powder that bridges in an RCBS uniflow worse than anything else I have ever tried.

I believe the powder you are looking at is SALUT. It probably came in a small black plastic bottle and is referred to as "Russian Unique". I suggest you start with the minimum Unique load for whatever pistol you are loading. I've got a few kilos and will be starting my workups later next month.

Bullshop I have some of that powder. It is what I use in the 338 Mag with Lee 220 RN CGC boolit. I have to weigh every charge with it, but it does perform well wherever I have asked it to perform. Would have never guessed that someone else still had some of this powder.

I am surprised Jeff used that number for a powder with a significantly different burn rate.

Would love to have some if it is Unique speed. He must have a limited supply as I was on his site yesterday and it was not listed.

Forget who, but someone has 5010 for 120 bucks a jug. Maybe my WC-870 and AA8700 will be worth its weight in GOLD one day.

I have a printout from Bartlett's site dated 8/25/04. He had M9 listed then. It read as follows:

Military surplus flake powder that looks like Dupont PB. Can be loaded using PB data or Green Dot. $54/6#.

It doesn't sound like either powder mentioned so far.Just to make you drool a bit, he had 17 different powders listed for sale. I miss those days...Ray
