I have a Ruger 45LC and was wondering what people are getting for
slugging results?
Thanks

I purchased my NIB Bisley .45 Colt SS 5 1/2" (did not include the .45 ACP cylinder) about a month ago.

Slugged with soft lead egg-shapeed fishing sinkers:

All cylinder throats were .4518-.4519 'ish.
Smallest grove diameter of the barrel was .4509. I have not measured specifically at barrel-frame thread juction or at just below the crown. All I have done so far is just pushed a slug all the way through the barrel to check for any restriction, which there was, but very slight.

The revolver was made this year according to Ruger's website: http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/PS-SerialNumberHistory-RE.html#. Based on many other posts/threads about Ruger's past inability to for consistant chamber sizes, I can only assume that Ruger has changed their manufacturing technique for the cylinder reaming. I would guess that rather than ream all chambers/throats at the same time with 6 different reamers, they are reaming one chamber/throat at a time with the same reamer. I was pleasantly supprised!

jandbn, thanks for that link. Acorrding to that, our 5.5" 45colt BH was shipped in 08. It's throats are able to accept a boolit sized to .452" with a slight resistance. I can't really measure them accurately, but I'm sure they're not super small.

My older model BH convertible had seriously undersized throats on both cyls. I reamed and
polished them up to .453 for the .452 bbl. All is now much better. 45acp cyl is especially
accurate for some reason.

Well, it looks like I either need to polish my throats or send it out to cylindersmith. Shoved some .4525" sized boolits through the throats this morning and they're all a little smaller now, anywhere from .4505"-.4515".

j20owner,
Send it to cylindersmith, fast turnaround and it'll be done right.

Yeah, will do it after deer season. It's close enough with 454190's at ~900fps for what I'm planning on using it for. Plus, I think I'm just gonna shoot the pee out of it while on vacation. Still a fairly 'new' gun. Only around 150 rounds through it, total, I think. Maybe 200.

I remember my cylinder was .454"
