I have a bunch of 185gr Hornady XTPs and was wondering if anyone has ever tried these in a 45LC. Since there is no crimp grove was wondering if the the Lee factory crimp die would hold them.
Anyone tried this. What kind of load? If they would work could probably push them pretty fast.
Would be shooting them in my Hartford 92s with 24" barrel. Would make a good coyote or 2 leg coyote load if it could be done.
Thanks

No idea what load data looks like but I suspect a strong taper crimp would be fine. Definately do not roll crimp as you can cut the jacket and get separation in flight.

Not the same but I run 180 grain Sierra's from my 45 Colt Ruger Blackhawk. You will have to deal with the spring tension in the magazine tube pushing the bullets too. I didn't have any problem with them in the Ruger's cylinder and I moved them plenty fast too.
It was a good while back and I don't recall what the loads were. I also tried the 250 XTP and wasn't happy with the jacket/core separation with them.
