Don't know if I can scrape up more funds for another mold or not, as I am already in for 3 group buys. But, either way, I would like to know the estimated weight of this boolit in hollow point, and with what alloy? Also, is this the Glen Larson design or different? Thanks.

after a question I was inclined to double check what I've posted as far as wt of the boolits I've cast from this mould.

MY hp's, with ww alloy (and how I have the pin set, it's adjustable, on the Single cavity HP option only) I cast some at 175gr and cast some at 170gr HP.
I've set the pin deep to cast some light wt ones, and they came in at 155gr. Nice to know you have a somewhat adjustable HP pin. This adjustable HP pin is only available on the single cavity HP option. The RG's are not adjustable for pin depth, although you can get other pins that are different lengths.

The regular flat point comes in at 185gr.

I am tempted on this one. How long do I have to get in on it?

How does it work with the extra set of pins. I am thinking I would also like a pin set to go deeper and have a narrower mouth for a softer alloy. Do they come long enough make a hole about to the first lube groove? Do I need to find a machinest to put the profile on it I want?

Thanks Blammer, that is one good lookin boolit. I assume that is WW alloy. If you want your boolit to stay together, you need less antimony in your alloy. If you are shooting targets or varmits, then it does not matter if your boolit fragments or not. I guess I'm gonna have to get one of these. :)

I have to have one of these. I don't want to sound anxious, but the fact is I am. I can't wait to try this hollowpointing system. I have high hopes. I understand the tooling is already in hand. What kind of lead time are we looking at then.

10-21-2009, 09:49 PM
Any idea how well this design would work in a Colt Python? The nose is the correct length. Can this be loaded to high enough velocity in a 357 Mag? Does it need a GC?

IllinoisCoyoteHunter
10-21-2009, 09:59 PM
I load plain base boolits up to about 1200 fps in 357 with good results. Anything above that I would think a GC would be advantageous. You can get a gas check cavity and a plain base cavity in the same mold if that is what you want (that is what I am doing).

wdr2
10-21-2009, 10:47 PM
Any idea how fast this bullet can be driven in a 357 Mag revolver?

Blammer
10-21-2009, 11:01 PM
now the "dish" hp is another matter all together. The dish in the RG2 or 4 will ROCK!
I like it for hunting!
(may want to get some "extra" pins to make this, that's what I did)

Don't know if you can see it, but it's a very "shallow" hp, the same as that was on the 358318 GB from NOE.

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g81/blammer8mm/Cast%20boolits%20fun/DSCN7691.jpg

This was recovered from the fifth water jug 25 yds away while traveling at 1700 fps. Much more hold together and penetration. WW alloy air cooled.

Has the shop figured out yet that you can get orders in faster than they can turn out the molds? Ha Ha bet they thought this would never catch on.
When you build quality and then throw in a fair price things have just got to get busy. Waiting for one of your molds is like waiting for Christmas to get here well worth the wait.

My second GB from NOE arrived in the mail today. Can't thank Al enough for making this happen. I got a RG4 2PB/2GC. Just sitting here looking at it - craftsmanship is outstanding, design is great and couldn't be happier. Will be a bit of time before I can put it to work, but just can't wait. Makes me really wish I knew about this site and NOE before I bought my first few Lee moulds, never would have wasted the money. Thanks again for the Cast Boolits site and NOE for outstanding work. I received mine today. I will cast this evening or tomorrow. Something tells me this will not be my only NOE mold for long.

Did a small run this AM before going to my brothers Super Bowl party. Boolits look great and are right on the money @ .360 cast out of 50/50 WW/lino Weight looks good at approx 179 grs with that alloy. Nice looking mold that makes nice round uniform boolits! I can't wait for some warm weather to give them a try. Thanks again Al.

Got mine yesterday. WOW! All aluminum molds are NOT created equal! The craftsmanship and quality of the NOE molds is so far ahead of any of my Lee molds its not fair to even consider them in the same catogory. This mold was definitely worth the wait. I don't know when I will get around to casting with it, but I am sure looking forward to it! Fantastic work Al! [smilie=w::drinks:

I just found mine in the mailbox today. Fantastic workmanship, hopefully I will be able to fire up the pot soon.
Now if you just made a .461" 420 fngc design. Man I would be on that one too.
Thanks, John

Timbuck, thanks for the notice, but I have a Lee gb at .461 and it is a tad bit small, I have to beagle it to keep it from keyholing, that is without any sizing.
This is for a 458 win mag. A CZ 550 safari mag.
Thanks John

Hi SwedeNelson,

Looks like a lovely Boolit..!

Are Molds available which would have no Gas Check provision? Just for a plain Boolit suitable say for .38 Special or non-gas-check .357 Magnum?
