I recently got an NOE 311284 and I would like to try it in my Rem 722 300 Savage. I know that such a long boolit is going to extend deeply below the neck. My question is this: has anyone here tried such a combination and what type of results did you get? Would I be better off with a slower powder like 4350 or a fast one like 2400? thanks in advance for your help.
My 1st try would be with 17.0 grs. of 2400

I would seat the boolit as long as possible and watch your runout. Any cartridge with a short neck or boolit with a short bearing surface can go cockeyed fast. I would seat it so the boolit just kissed the leade if the mag will allow it.
FWIW- I ahve seated well below the case neck and had zero issues in all cases except one. So in my mind it's a "maybe" problem. Try it and see with a sane load- 16.0-17.0 2400 or 13.0 Red Dot would be good starting areas.
I tried 311299 in my .300S that I ran through my Co-Ax die with 40 grains of MR-3100. All showed signs of tipping at 100 yards and my best group ran 2.5". I went back to my 165 grain boolit.
