I love shooting cast in alot of cals ~ The best is 7mm 08, 30-30, .308, home made buckshot and slugs.

Any one that will go bang!

The ones that just go click don't move me much, thankfully they are rather rare.
:kidding:

I like the 22lr for small game, the 30 carbine for plinking, and the '06 can't be beat for big game IMHO.

I can't have a favorite, If I did my other rifles and handguns would get miffed....

My favorite is .45 ACP due to it's platform (I have a couple of S&W 625's). The revolvers have "magic" triggers, they shoot extremely well and I don't have to chase brass (I have a great deal of respect for the 1911 platform but HATE to chase brass).

My favorites are:
!. .38/.357 for handgun and levergun shooting. Definitely the most versatile handgun/rifle cartridge going IMO.

2. 12 ga 1 oz. 71/2 shot for sporting clays weekly

3. .45 acp informal winter bullseye shooting

so whats your favorite cartridge to shoot?
The one that makes the smallest groups at the longest distances. So far, it is the 38-55 out to 300yds and the 45-70 out to 1000yds ... all loaded with black powder

Even though I have yet to shot CAS, I really love shooting my 45Colt loaded with a 250gr boolit and a case of BP. Then again I shoot more 38specials then anything else, even more then my 22rfs!

Mine is the 22lr. It is going less then half the velocity of the .308 or 30/06 and that makes you have to hold the gun still for more then twice as long just for the bullet to get out the barrel. That is a challenge for off hand practice that teaches you follow through for when you shoot the hand loaded stuff. That gives me the satisfaction that the time spent casting and reloading is well worth it.

For the shear joy of just shooting it is a toss up between the 22 Cooper in a pistol rifle combo Ruger single six and mod 37 Cooper, or the 25 Copperhead in a completely revamped mod 340 Savage.
The 25 copperhead has the added advantage of free brass from 223's found in any gravel pit where ever folks shoot. That kinda put the 25 over the top for me.

For punching holes in paper or seeing if I can hit that it is probably a 22 though 38/357 comes in 2nd by a nose. For seeing what damage can be done to an object 44 wins every time. From old computers, car bodies, water jugs or rocks it's fun to watch the results.

My favorit cartridge goes along with my most prized gun ,My Paps circa 1928 ,1894src in 32 win spl. Its so easy to find loads it likes and everytime I shoot her it brings back good memories of Pap casing whitetails on Chestnut Ridge. Its a great reminder of a great man. Sure do miss you Pap.

I'll reverse the question to what caliber do I not prefer to shoot. It's .22lr. They're so quiet that they just go Pfffft and I'm not sure if it even went off. :bigsmyl2:

This may sound strange, but it has to be my 450 Dakota, followed closely by my Sharps LRE 38-90.

The Dakota went to Africa last December and took a Cape Buffalo.
The 38-90 is a close second, because I had to research it and find the dies, brass, and design a 380gr boolit for it to defeat the evil empire. AKA the NRA BPCRS Committee (aka the gang of three). Who shows no interest in authenticity but does take bribes of sorts to make illegal things legal.

I'll have to list four. They are .22 hornet, .223 Remington, .30-30 and .308. I rarely shoot handguns since I retired. I have no real interest in shotguns although I own two. I don't even hunt anymore. I just shoot paper targets.

My 44 wears out my old wrist.
My 41 does it too, but slower..
The 357 is a kick for sure.,,but my son took posession of that one.
38 Special is fun of old beer cans, can you send me any? I will empty them out.
22 LR can go all day but 'poopin the peewees' isn't the thrill like it was when younger.
The 9MM is fun and fast, but I run out of boolits too soon..to eager I guess.
My 32 ACP is fun. But my fat fingers find it harder and harder to load em back up.

So, I gotta fall on my 32 H&R Mag Revolver. Long enough to reload easily, kick to shoot, not a pipsqueak, have popped a few small piggies with the 100 grainers.

I just bought a Tokerav TTU in 7.62 x 25. Cleaned up nice and got 1200 or boolits for $130 bucks. Not too bad. Will crank through a few of them rounds this weekend and see how we like it. Was told the round was a 'popper' for sure. Told they go through telephone poles, but, since the poles don't go flyin off into space when hit, might prove to be to boring.

Anyway, don't forget my offer on the ole beer cans.
